Chicken & Noodles, Cold Weather, and Kids

With the snowstorm in progress (8-10"+!!!!!) I decided that the day called for chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes and homemade bread :)

It is one of the best go-to meals on a cold, snowy day! What is your favorite go-to meal on cold, snowy days?

Ok, so the rest of this blog post is probably going to step on toes, and I apologize. No, never mind, I don't apologize, because, well, you will understand when you read it....

This is in regards to a certain situation I witnessed.  A mother called her hair dresser to get her 3 year old son in for a haircut on Saturday. Picture this: the wind blowing very hard, near zero temps, with below zero wind chills. Why on earth would you willingly take a 3 year old out in that weather just to get a haircut??? A 3 year old does not NEED to go out in that weather just to get a hair cut! They don't have that much hair to warrant getting them sick just to get a trim! And even if they did have enough hair to warrant a trim, is it really worth the health risk to your child to take them out in that weather just for a trim that could wait another week?

My boys are 11 and 13, and we won't allow them to go out playing in that weather! I mean, come on, what are you thinking? I understand that there are situations such as weddings, etc, that might prompt the parents to want to get the hair all trimmed up, but again, the child was 3.  Sometimes I really worry about the intelligence of some parents :(

Thoughts? It's ok to debate, just to let you know. As long as we are all adults about it, I think it would make the discussion much more interesting :)

My goals for the new year :)

Since I am no good at keeping resolutions, I will, instead, set goals for 2014.

The first goal is that I am going to start utilizing the free gym that my workplace offers. That might mean that I just walk for 30 minutes a day, but that is more than I am doing now!

The next goal is to eat healthier. Yes, I know, this is a staple "resolution" for many people. I have been eating pretty decent for the most part. Except that I have been eating out a lot lately for lunch, rather than bringing my lunch to work.

Another goal is to stop spending money on unnecessary things, such as eating out. Eating out once in a while is not going to hurt, but I am talking about the several times a week trips to Panda Express! BTW, that place is amazing!!!

Another goal is to keep up with my blog. I am very serious about this, and want to make it successful. I plan on doing fun things with it, such as small giveaways and such :)

A very important goal that I have is to be a better friend. I am not saying I am a cruddy friend, but there is always room for improvement ;)

One goal is to continue to be a better mother and wife. My husband and sons deserve that!

What are your goals for 2014?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
