So, I have been using this moisturizer for several days. It's really is a wonderful product. I noticed softer skin with the first use. Chicken & Noodles, Cold Weather, and Kids

With the snowstorm in progress (8-10"+!!!!!) I decided that the day called for chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes and homemade bread :)

It is one of the best go-to meals on a cold, snowy day! What is your favorite go-to meal on cold, snowy days?

Ok, so the rest of this blog post is probably going to step on toes, and I apologize. No, never mind, I don't apologize, because, well, you will understand when you read it....

This is in regards to a certain situation I witnessed.  A mother called her hair dresser to get her 3 year old son in for a haircut on Saturday. Picture this: the wind blowing very hard, near zero temps, with below zero wind chills. Why on earth would you willingly take a 3 year old out in that weather just to get a haircut??? A 3 year old does not NEED to go out in that weather just to get a hair cut! They don't have that much hair to warrant getting them sick just to get a trim! And even if they did have enough hair to warrant a trim, is it really worth the health risk to your child to take them out in that weather just for a trim that could wait another week?

My boys are 11 and 13, and we won't allow them to go out playing in that weather! I mean, come on, what are you thinking? I understand that there are situations such as weddings, etc, that might prompt the parents to want to get the hair all trimmed up, but again, the child was 3.  Sometimes I really worry about the intelligence of some parents :(

Thoughts? It's ok to debate, just to let you know. As long as we are all adults about it, I think it would make the discussion much more interesting :)

My goals for the new year :)

Since I am no good at keeping resolutions, I will, instead, set goals for 2014.

The first goal is that I am going to start utilizing the free gym that my workplace offers. That might mean that I just walk for 30 minutes a day, but that is more than I am doing now!

The next goal is to eat healthier. Yes, I know, this is a staple "resolution" for many people. I have been eating pretty decent for the most part. Except that I have been eating out a lot lately for lunch, rather than bringing my lunch to work.

Another goal is to stop spending money on unnecessary things, such as eating out. Eating out once in a while is not going to hurt, but I am talking about the several times a week trips to Panda Express! BTW, that place is amazing!!!

Another goal is to keep up with my blog. I am very serious about this, and want to make it successful. I plan on doing fun things with it, such as small giveaways and such :)

A very important goal that I have is to be a better friend. I am not saying I am a cruddy friend, but there is always room for improvement ;)

One goal is to continue to be a better mother and wife. My husband and sons deserve that!

What are your goals for 2014?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Re-Introduction!!

Since it has been so long since I have posted, I felt that I should re-introduce the blog!

This blog is a plethora of things pertaining to yummy food, my crazy cats and my interesting/boring at times/crazy life.

My name is Majenica. Yes, that is a strange name :) Some call me Jeni, others call me Majenica. I even have a cousin who used to call me JeniMaSue! I am an aspiring blogger, a mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend. I work for Sallie Mae, and love my job. I absolutely love my co-workers and we get along great!

I have been married to the love of my life, Russell,  for 17 years and I couldn't ask for a better husband! He cooks, he cleans, and he even homeschools Austin. How awesome is he?!?!

I have two sons. Both boys are my world and I wouldn't trade them for anything!

Dustin is 13 years old and in the 7th grade. He loves sports, Xbox 360, riding his bike and being with his friends. Oh, and his iPhone..lol.  He is nearly as tall as his dad and skinny as a rail.  He is the world's pickiest eater and just recently tried (and liked!!) bacon for the first time. He would live off of Spaghettios and Ramen if we let him..lol.

Austin is 11 years old and loves Batman, Power Rangers and Kitties. Austin has autism and is homeschooled. He loves being at home rather than a brick and mortar school. He thrives with one on one education. Austin is nearly as tall as Dustin! He isn't as skinny, though, because he loves his food. His favorite food is tuna right out of the can! eeewww!!!!!

We have 2 cats. Midnight is our black cat, who is 11 years old. We got him from the Humane Society when he was 1. He still acts like a little kitten though! Very playful :) Stella is our siamese cat, who is 4 years old. We got her from the animal shelter a few months ago. You would never know that she didn't grow up with us, though! They are both spoiled rotten and know just how to get their way!

Well, now you have met the family :) My goal for 2014 is to blog at least three times a week. I didn't do so well with that in 2013, so now I have to work harder at my goal! I hope you will like the blog and will tell your friends about it. This is going to be a great year with exciting things to come on here!

Changes are afoot!!!

What a week it was last week!!! Changes are afoot!! I have made the very hard decision to take some time off from school. I have been in school so long, and I am exhausted! I need some time to regroup and focus my attention on my children and my house.

We have decided to get back into fostering again. Exciting :)  I am so glad that we got the caseworker we were wanting! Having a great caseworker is all of the difference!! All paperwork is finished and we are having our first training on Feb. 23rd. I can't wait :):):)

Dustin has been home from school all week sick with strep throat. Poor boy. He doesn't get sick. ever. So this was tough for him. He is still coughing quite a bit, even after the meds, so we might have to make another trip to the doc...blah.

Well, on the bright side, with all of the time on my hands from not having to complete so much school work, I can update my blog more regularly!! WOOT! lol!!

Hello Again!!!

It has been some time since I have posted! I am so very sorry about that, but life got in the way :P

I have been cooking up a storm and have been busy busy! Dustin is playing Basketball, so I have been busy taking him to practice and going to watch his games!

And I have been busy with Austin's behavior clinician coming twice a week. Look at what they worked on last week :) They worked on problem solving and in the process made a flag from Austin's Legos :)  (please pay no mind to the dirty face...I swear his nickname should be Pig Pen from Charlie Brown..lol).

Then there's the crazy cat!! He nearly lost his life this past week! Because I nearly killed him..lol. We have had Midnight for almost 9 years, and he was a little over a year old when we got him, so he is between 10 and 11 years old. Last week, out of the blue, he started urinating on everything!! I was soo mad!!! We ended up taking him to the vet, and it turned out he has a urinary tract infection. So we had to change his diet quite a bit, because he also had a high ph level that indicates crystals in the urine. Crazy cat!

As you can see, he is a bit rotten and spoiled :P

I have been doing my homework like mad, trying to finish classes so that I can be student teaching next fall!! I am so excited!!!!! It's like there is finally light at the end of the homework tunnel!

Ok, so that was a quick update on life and the crazy cat, so I am off to get my post in order for the yummy food part!!
